1969 Ford Galaxie 500About me, well I’m a 50ish (although not quite yet) guy who has always loved cars but could never afford one of the cool cars.  In high school and for a few years after I had a 1969 Ford Galaxie 500.  The car was badged out as a 390 auto (C-6) and was a two-barrel car.  There was a lot of speculation about the motor in the car.  The 390 was rated, according to Ford advertisements, as having 265 horsepower.  This car seemed to have significantly more power than 265 and caused a lot of disappointment to the kids who had purchased the Trans-Ams as a result of the infamous Smokey and the Bandit movie.

Later in life I owned a 1970 Ford Mustang coupe.  It was, at that time, the coolest car I ever owned.   Even still it wasn’t the cool Mustang, the Fastback.  It wasn’t even the Sportsroof model,  instead it was the “coupe”.  Although the 1969 and 1970 Fastback Mustangs are awesome cars, this one was so-so in appearance.

Performance was even less.  This car was in need of serious repairs and was basically a POS with potential.  It had a 351 W with a 3-speed on the floor.  It had no rear brakes and questionable drum front brakes.  The wiring was something of a nightmare and the front end was worn out.  Still though, it was a pretty cool car.

A career change, marriage and life took over around 22 and my opportunities for owning a true muscle car diminished with each year.  No regrets though, as I have the most wonderful daughter, son-in-law and the most awesome granddaughter a guy could ask for.

Anyway…

Finding myself single and 47 and in a totally different financial situation than I have ever been in before I decided it was time for the bucket list car.  A true muscle car.  For me that was a Dodge Challenger Track Pak 6-speed.  On February 15, 2010 I bought one and haven’t regretted it yet.

In addition to cars I ride a motorcycle (Suzuki LC 1500) and love to fish.  I live 10 minutes from one of the finest big bass lakes in Oklahoma and between April and June spend pretty much all my spare time harassing the bass at Konawa Lake.

I am a decent computer programmer and have built and maintained some huge websites.  After a hiatus of a few years I decided I wanted to have a website for my newest passion, the Dodge Challenger.
